It's Monday; What Are You Reading?

It's Monday and that means it's time for "It's Monday! What Are You Reading?" hosted by Sheila at Book Journey! Every week, book bloggers take a tally of what they read during the previous week and what they plan to read in the coming week.

What I Read Last Week:
Last week was a particularly busy week for me in terms of my schoolwork, but I did manage to squeeze in four books, two of which were for the monthly theme, two of which were not.

-Who Speaks for Islam?: What a Billion Muslims Really Think by John L. Esposito and Dalia Mogahed

-In My Own Words: An Introduction to My Teachings and Philosophy by His Holiness the Dalai Lama

-Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy

-Skulduggery Pleasant: Playing with Fire by Derek Landy

What I'm Reading This Week:
-Skulduggery Pleasant: The Faceless Ones by Derek Landy

-Skulduggery Pleasant: Dark Days by Derek Landy

-Skulduggery Pleasant: Mortal Coil by Derek Landy

-Her Voice, Her Faith: Women Speak on World Religions by Katherine Young and Arvind Sharma

-The Goddess Lives in Upstate New York: Breaking Convention and Making Home at a North American Hindu Temple by Corinne G. Dempsey

  1. What interesting covers the Landy books have. For a busy week of school, you did get a lot read. I'm a new follower, btw. Here's mine:

  3. Thanks for the follow, BookBelle! The beginning of the week was super busy and then after Wednesday it got really dead and I was able to read more.

Sheila: Thanks! I've been like this since I was a kid. I'd literally just read whatever was in front of me. I have preferences in terms of authors and genres, but, for the most part, if it looks interesting I'll read it.

  4. Wow. You read a book on Islam and (Tibetan) Buddhism and this week you're reading a book on Wicca/Paganism? Well-rounded reader you! :) Don't see many bloggers do that. Even if it's your theme of the month :)

  5. Chinoiseries: The Goddess Lives in Upstate New York is actually about Hinduism, but there is a chapter in Her Voice, Her Faith about Wicca.

When I was forming the idea for my book blog, I wanted to do something different. I didn't want my blog to be a carbon copy of all the others out there so I looked at what they were doing and I did something else. I don't mind reading brand new books or bestsellers, but I think that so many bloggers are doing that. Did we really need another one?

I also really like to learn about various things. I have a lot of interests, religion being one of them, so I framed the themes in such a way that it would give the books I reviewed more variety.

  6. As this week I was mostly writing for my projects, my list of finished books isn't as bloated with homework.. Come see what I finished.
