Book Blogger Hop!

Book Blogger Hop

It's that time of week again. Jennifer at Crazy for Books is once more hosting the book blogger hop, where every week a new question is answered by tons of different book bloggers. Go check out her blog as well as the others that are participating this week.

This week's question is: If you could physically put yourself into a book or series...which one would it be and why?

My answer:

I'd love to say something impressive like Pride and Prejudice or a Dickens novel, but I'd be lying. I really love the world that Derek Landy has created for his Skulduggery Pleasant* series. The characters are fun and creative and they have a great sarcastic sense of humor that I love. Besides, who can resist a skeleton mage detective who wears pinstripe suits and drives a Bentley?

*If you're an American who is interested in buying the whole series, you'll need to use the UK version of the website because for some reason the fouth and fifth books haven't made it to the States yet. That's why I, regrettably, have not been able to read those two yet.

  1. Hopping by. I had the same problem choosing... I wanted to say something like a Jane Austen novel, but in all honesty I like flushing toilets and hot tubs, and then I wanted to pick Harry Potter, but a lot of people picked that and in all honesty there's a good chance I'd still be a muggle anyway.

I haven't heard of your series, but I'll have to keep an eye out for it!

  2. As a fan of the Harry Potter books, I too thought about saying that but I wanted to be a bit more original. I also wanted to direct people's attention to Landy's series. They're really great books and it's just a shame that they seem to be poorly-marketed in the U.S.

  3. Sounds like a very cleverly written series. With a skeleton as a central character. Interesting.

Here's my blog post for this hop. Hope you will stop by.

  4. Thanks for the follow!

It is pretty clever. I wasn't sure I was going to like it at first because it seemed geared towards the younger generations, but it's actually quite a smart and snappy series, the kind that even adults can enjoy.

  5. Ok -- totally not familiar with the books you mentioned, so will check the library. :) I chose Hogwarts and Narnia .. and of course, have thought of other places as I've been Hopping.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. A skeleton detective who's also a mage?? Why have I not heard of this series before?? ;-) Hi Gabriel, new follower dropping by from the Crazy for Books Friday Follow hop, and just wanted to thank you for the fantastic new recommendation! I will have to get my hands on the first volume and hopefully the rest after that! I hope you'll hop on over to my blog and see what series I would want to jump into :-)

    Have a great weekend,

  7. Darkeva: Thanks for the follow!

A lot of people haven't heard of it before. In fact, the only reason I found out about it was that a friend of mine had a friend who lived in Ireland, where the author is from. I decided tonight that I was done waiting for books 4 and 5 to come out in the States so I just bought them off of Amazon UK. I'll have to reread the others before I read these two because it's been so long since I've read them.

I'll definitely stop by your blog.
